Wish List
Our football program's mission is to give your son the best possible football experience. To
do so, we are in the process of dramatically updating the equipment within our football
program. This requires fundraising and/or donations. Below is a Wish List of items we would
like to get into our football program immediately. Please send an e-mail if you know someone
who would like to help. Please note that any donation can be used as a tax-deduction since
TD Football is a non-profit organization.
Speed Trap (we could use one more) (2007 Senior Gift to Program)
Used to accurately measure athletes 10 & 40 yard dash time- two important
tests to measure improvement and for college recruiting.
Trap Chute (Purchased by Downey Boosters)
Used to help train linemen and running backs to stay low
and block with leverage. 25' model w/wheels & shipping.
Updated Team Room (Purchased through TD Football Club)
New carpet w/pad, stereo speakers w/iPod dock & locking
cabinet, new paint, photographs. Thank you to Henry &
Cynthia Vargas for an outstanding Audio/Visual system.

2009 Wish List
DVD 1 to 7 Duplicator (Purchased by TD Football Club)
Burns copies of game film DVD's for players, coaches, and college recruiters,
in a fast-manner.
"Shop Vac" $140 (Purchased by Steve & Trudi Sigmon)
Used to clean our new carpet in our Varsity team room on a daily basis.
Vertec (Purchased through fundraising)
Used to test improvement in our football player's explosion, by measuring
their vertical leap.
End Zone Tower Camera (Purchased by TD Football Club)
Used to film practice and game from behind the endzone, instead of the
pressbox, at 25' high. It lets coaches evaluate plays and players better,
and provide better teaching and feedback
Practice Segment Timer (Purchased by Downey Boosters)
Used to coordinate practice times for all three teams, an invaluable tool
for keeping practices on time and organized.
Jugs Machine Trailer (Purchased through fundraising)
Used to move bulky Jugs machine around at practice, so it can be
used everyday. We have a machine, but due to its difficulty of
setting up and putting away, it isn't used as much as it should be.
Footballs $60 each
Wilson GST style. We can never have too many footballs. The more we
have, the more drill work we get done.
Landing Mat (Purchased through fundraising)
Used for punt blocking, tackling drills, etc. This saves the
body from the wear and tear of landing on hard ground.
Priority #1 (approx $5000): Renovate Training Area
between Weight Room & Wrestling Room
The asphalt needs to be redone, and the hope is to transform the "pit
area" into training space. Using parking lot paint, the plan is to paint
ladders and dots like seen on the right. We already have 1" pads to
create powerlifting stations. We'd also like to put up a chainlink fence to
enclose the back area as part of the weight training facility.
Priority #3: Pop-Up Dummies
(8 for $3000)
Take the place of bodies and trash cans, and gives us
a target we can hit and they pop back up. They can be
used in a variety of drills during practice.
Other Miscellaneous Items Wanted
Indoor Weight Room Sled ($2000)
Used inside to teach linemen proper body position on blocks. Also used
to teach defensive players how to shed blocks and come off of blocks.
Kicking Net (Purchased through fundraising)
The new net is lighter and much easier to use.
Items Purchased
Landro Play Analyzer (Purchased through grant)
Coaching Headsets (Purchased through grant)
Downey Football has an all-digital, duplex 7-coach system that
is used to coordinate everything during the football games.
Priority #2 (approx $1500) Cargo Trailer
Would be used to transport and store water jugs, kicking nets, and all
other practice/game equipment; to away games.
Under Armour Frosh Jerseys (Purchased through fundraising)
From this year forward our JV & Frosh teams will be outfitted with genuine
Under Armour game jerseys.
