All student-athletes that earn straight A grades at the end of
the 1st quarter get a customized 3'x5' "Fathead" poster of
themself from the season.

All Seniors that have played football for four-straight years
get to pose for our Annual Senior Schedule poster. The
poster contains our new schedule, features our new Jersey
for the year, and is distributed to all classrooms at Downey
High and all sponsors of Downey Football.

All student-athletes that complete all four years of football at
Downey High receive a 4" custom patch for their Block "D"
jacket.

Knights of the
Round Table
Award
|
|
Every year, one player is selected for the prestigous
"Knights of the Round Table" award. This is an award
presented by our Alumni, to the student-athlete who best
personifies excellence on the field, off the field, and in the
classroom.

|
Each athlete with perfect attendance at the end of a
Four-Week Off-Season workout period, gets a chance to
audition for the 1000-Pound Club. A coach must verify the
four lift maxes in the: Squat, Bench, Clean, and Deadlift. If
all four lift sums are over 1000, that achiever gets a
1000-pound Club t-shirt, and their name immortalized on
the weight room wall.

This is a new tradition in 2009 to reward the players that
deserve to be rewarded due to outstanding effort and
commitment to the team. Effort takes no talent, therefore
anyone can give great effort.
